Book 7 of 2013: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
I’ll admit, the only reason I decided to even pick this book up is because Baz Luhrmann was directing the movie. It was not on any reading list for college or high school. I finished the book about a month before the movie came out.
I found it to be “alright” even though it is a classic piece of literature. Some humorous moments like the car losing a tire after one of Gatsby parties, interesting characters like Daisy, Gatsby and Tom and some very affecting quotes and the symbol of “the green light”/hope but it just didn’t stay with me after I read it.
*shrug*
I still think Daisy is a terrible person even though i fully understand her actions in the last chapters of the book.
I’ll also admit that I had to read up on some of the symbols like the eyes of TJ Eckleberg when i finished reading it.
6.5/10.
